Deprecation of Ubuntu 20.04 for Compute Resource Nodes Dear Aleph-VM Users, We would like to inform you that the official support for Ubuntu 20.04 for running the Compute Resource Node software (Aleph-VM) is being deprecated. This decision is based on the use of outdated software versions of NFTables, which has received valuable improvements in more recent versions and makes supporting both difficult. As we strive to focus our efforts and allocate resources efficiently, it has become necessary for us to concentrate on the roadmap and support for the latest stable systems. Therefore, the ongoing development and maintenance of Ubuntu 20.04 support will be discontinued. We updated our documentation and our build and testing configuration to reflect this change. We encorage all concerned node operators to upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04. The upgrade procedure should be pretty trivial. No change is required regarding running Core Channel Nodes. They do not run virtual machines and running them inside containers allows us to support a larger diversity of host operating systems. Please note that Aleph-VM is open-source project, and contributions from the community to support other operating systems and versions are welcome as officious ports. Thank you for your continued support. Best regards, Hugo aleph.im Team
